As Yeshua’s Church Suffers, It Grows!

Who enjoys suffering? Who would choose to allow suffering if it could be avoided?

Even Yeshua, the Son of Yahweh, prayed in Luke 22:42, saying, “Father, if You are willing, take this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done” (TLV). Notice the phrase, “yet not My will, but Yours be done.” The lesson is clear: we should only accept suffering if it aligns with Yahweh’s will. After all, it is through Yeshua’s acceptance of the cup of suffering that created a way for disciples to receive adoption as His children.

Let’s examine the meaning of the “if” in the adoption statement from Romans 8:14-17 (TLV):

For all who are led by the Ruach Elohim (Spirit of God) are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear; rather, you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, ‘Abba! Father!’ The Ruach (Spirit) Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. And if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint-heirs with Messiah—if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.” Again, take note of the last phrase: “If indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.” This “if” emphasizes that we each need to seek Yahweh’s will in each cup of suffering that is offered.

Today, particularly in the Western world, the concept of “cheap grace” has become prevalent. Many places of worship have transformed into venues for entertainment and deception. Attendees often seek only a feel-good experience, self-indulgence, and a false sense of self-righteousness. Meanwhile, in other parts of the world, believers in Yeshua face attacks, imprisonment, or even death. It is striking that many people here in America have a sense of entitlement, even becoming upset if a pastor speaks for more than twenty minutes. If a sermon challenges their faith, they are “offended.” How very different from the early Church, where members eagerly stood in the cold or burning sun to learn more of scripture and gave without expecting anything in return.

I could point to numerous attacks that the true Church of Yeshua is facing worldwide, as well as the significant awakenings occurring globally. These awakenings are fueled by the willingness of His adopted children to endure the cup of suffering assigned to them. There are also churches in America that demonstrate a commitment to making great sacrifices to build His disciples, establish Christ’s Kingdom, and walk in His culture. These churches are places of sacrifice, faithfulness, and unity. The relationships formed here are genuine, and, more importantly, they repeatedly experience the revelations of Yeshua and His faithful provision, right on time!

I have lived long enough to witness the beauty of the next generation, those who are willing to embrace the cup assigned to them by Yahweh. First, they confront the world and its many deceptions with love, truth, joy, and courage. Second, by submitting to Yahweh and accepting this cup, they gain confidence in their faith and callings. Third, they are forging relationships between husbands, wives, and their children that cannot be found in the world.

In this present world, which often lacks hope, morality, and suffers from spiritual emptiness—leading to mental illness and perpetuating generational curses—this generation of followers of Yeshua stands as a testament to the world. They are overcoming these generational curses and are glorified with Him as they accept the cup that has been assigned to them. Their lives exemplify love, power, and remarkable triumphs!
