Still Waters Community Church, a true testament to growth and resilience, was born in the home of Rev. Dr. Carole and Rev. Doug Hulslander in Woodstock, Georgia, in 1999.\u00a0Dr. Hulslander, then employed as\u00a0a scientist\u00a0at Kimberly-Clark Corp., saw the need for a place\u00a0of\u00a0worship, bible study, and belonging among her friends, co-op students, and family members. The church, which started with a congregation of only eight, has since blossomed into a thriving community, with each member playing a vital role in its journey. We are from many cultures and backgrounds with a vision of unity based on our LORD JESUS\u2019s prayer for us in John 17.<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Still Waters Community Church eventually outgrew the Hulslander\u2019s home living room and relocated to Marietta, Georgia. One of the members was able to arrange a rental agreement with her apartment complex’s clubhouse, which had the capacity to seat 30 people.<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t


2002<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

As the church grew, there was less space for the children to play and no room for other ministries, such as Sunday School classes. At this time, the pastor of Sandy Springs United Methodist Church heard about Still Waters during a meeting with Dr. Hulslander and offered Still Waters a place to worship. Services were held in various places at this facility, including the chapel, parlor, and gym. The church continued to grow but found it difficult to minister to the neighborhood the way in which GOD was calling us – reaching out to everyone: the homeless and people of all backgrounds.<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Still Waters Community Church moved once again into a new facility. Cokesbury United Methodist Church was facing financial challenges and declining membership therefore, we were able to move into those facilities on North Druid Hills Road. The building and grounds, including the steeple, needed significant repairs. On the day of the move, we observed from the church parking lot the steeple swaying about a foot from side to side in the wind, confirming that it would be the first project! Over several years there, we invested almost a million dollars and even constructed an apartment on the property to accommodate two homeless men. We grew in JESUS and rejoiced at all that was achieved during those years!<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Still Waters International Academy was founded with one teacher,<\/div>
Mrs. Sharon O’Connor, and one classroom assistant, one janitor, and one supporter, Dr. Hulslander. Over time, the school grew into a nurturing and inspiring learning environment for children from ages one to twelve. It is a place where young, curious minds can learn, grow, and thrive. One of our primary goals is to foster a love for learning in our students. We are dedicated to nurturing confident and creative thinkers through a Christ-focused education that guides them toward a limitless future.<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Still Waters Community Church relocated yet again to our present location; two buildings at 1560 and 1590 Oakbrook Rd. in Norcross, Georgia. Our ministries have experienced growth and expansion; we now have nine pastors and eight elders (see list below). The future looks incredibly promising, and we invite you to join us! We have faced many challenges that have helped us mature and strengthen our commitment to follow Jesus closely in every situation. We are enjoying ourselves and believe that the best is yet to come.
